A Mid Victorian Officers Mess Dinner Plate to 41st or Welch Regiment of Foot
A very rare mid Victorian officers mess dinner plate to the 41st or Welch regiment of Foot made from stoneware china. A makers mark is evident on the reverse but unknown to us.
Beautifully hand decorated in blue and shades of orange flowers around the rim of the plate and in the bowl, the top has a blue strap within which is the roman numerals for XLI or 41st Regiment. Above this sits a gilt crown.
The plate has three hairline cracks that are evident from the reverse picture. Theses cracks do not extend across the entire width of the plate and it can therefore be deduced that the plate has not been broken in two and repaired. Priced to reflect condition and still an attractive addition to any regimental collection.
