A 17th or Leicestershire Regiment of Foot Officers Coatee Button 1830-55
A very rare example of a large closed back gilt button from an officer’s full dress coatee. Made by Jennens & Co, London. Complete with shank to the reverse and displaying the design of an Arabic 17 below a Victorian crown within a continuous wreath of leaves turned inwards. In good condition with minor wear and loss of gilt to some high points.
