A 31st or (Huntingdonshire) Regiment of Foot Officers Coatee Button 1840-55
A scarce example of a large closed back gilt button from an officer’s full dress coatee. Made by Charles Clancy, Dublin. Complete with shank to the reverse and displaying the design of XXXI within a crowned garter inscribed “Huntingdonshire”, and within a wreath of rose, shamrock and thistle. The design was worn by both officers and men. Very good condition retaining virtually all its original fire gilt.
