A 13th Regiment of Foot Officers Coatee Button circa 1842-55
A scarce example of an officer’s 13th or ( 1st Somersetshire ) Prince Albert’s Regiment of Light Infantry large closed back button from an officer’s coatee circa 1842 through 1855. Made by Jennens & Co, London. Complete with shank to the reverse and displaying the design of the mural crown representing the granting of the battle honour for Jellalabad in 1842 sitting above a garter inscribed “Prince Albert’s Lt Infantry”, a wreath of laurel leaves and in the centre the Roman numerals XIII. Overall in good condition with minor loss of gilt to some high points.
