A 47th or Lancashire Regiment of Foot Officer’s Coatee Button circa 1830-55
A scarce large closed back officer’s gilt button from a full dress coatee circa 1830 through 1855. Made by Jennens & Co, London. Complete with shank to the reverse and displaying the design of a wreath with a lion over a crown above the Arabic numeral 47. At the top of the button is the battle honour Tarifa, authorised in 1816.
