A late Victorian Royal Scots Greys Kettle Drummers Polar Bearskin Cap
A very rare example of a late Victorian Royal Scots Greys kettle drummers polar bearskin cap with massive red hackle feather plume extending over the top of the cap.
The cap is made from polar bearskin and retains its brown leather liner as is correct for this style of cap. Only worn by the regimental kettle drummer on ceremonial occasions the cap has a brass chin chain attached to a brown leather strap secured by hooks located inside the cap. The rear of the cap has a white metal Horse of Hannover attached and a brass grenade plume holder is located on the left hand side of the cap via a leather pocket. A massive red hackle feather plume extends from the grenade plume holder over the top of the cap and partly down the other side.
The cap is in very good condition with some minor thinning of the polar bearskin to the rear and some age wear to the leather liner.
A rare opportunity to acquire a rare polar bearskin cap to one of the iconic regiments of the British army.
