An East Devonshire Regiment of Foot officers Shoulder Belt plate circa 1830-55
A scare 20th or East Devonshire Regiment of Foot officer’s shoulder belt plate worn between 1830 and 1855.
The rectangular gilt burnished plate is adorned with a laurel wreath and topped with a Victorian crown. In the centre the roman numerals XX. The reverse of the plate still retains its brown backing leather and has provisions for attachment to a buff leather shoulder belt. Good fire gilt overspill is visible and the plate is in very good condition with virtually no loss of any fire gilt.
