An Important Home Service Shako to Capt, Thomas Dacre Butler, 52nd LI

An important family lot, comprising an 1878 pattern officer`s home service shako belonging to Captain Thomas Dacre Butler, 52nd Light Infantry, who was later Sir Thomas Dacre Butler KCVO and Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod, House of Lords 1892 to 1929.
Sadly now missing its original helmet plate, the shako is in good condition, save for evidence of one moth hole on the side not generally affecting the appearance.
The shako displays the standard interior linings and has the initlals TDB in ink on the leather sweat band.
