3rd or East Kent Regiment of Foot (Buffs) Officers Shoulder Belt Plate

A 3rd or East Kent Regiment of Foot (Buffs) Officers Shoulder Belt Plate worn prior to 1855. A rectangular gilt burnished back plate with silver ( white metal ) hobnail cut star on which sits a garter strap with the ancient motto of the regiment Veteri Frondescit Honore all in gilt. Above the garter a curved scroll inscribed Peninsula and seven square cut rays with Peninsula battle honours. Above the whole a gilt crown.
In very good condition with virtually no wear to any of the high points. The reverse showing signs of some gilt overspill.
A very nice and rare example to one of the great Peninsula campaign regiments.
