West Suffolk Militia Officers Shoulder Belt Plate

An Officerís West Suffolk Militia shoulder belt plate worn between 1837 and 1855 and comprising a silver plated copper or brass back plate with an eight pointed silver hobnail cut star on which rests a circular gilt metal garter strap with the words Honi Soit Qui Maly Pense which topped with a QVC crown and below a ribbon strap with the words West Suffolk.
The reverse retains its original hooks and buttons and has some age discolouration. Overall a very nice condition shoulder belt plate that would respond very well to a clean. The silver plate although tarnished appears to be intact with no evidence of copper bleed.
