32nd or Cornwall Regiment of Foot Shoulder Belt Plate

An Officer’s 32nd or Cornwall Regiment of Foot shoulder belt plate circa 1830 and comprising a gilt matted back plate with a silver (white metal) eight pointed rayed star with battle honours in each of the arms representing the Peninsula war service of the regiment. In the centre is a circle with the Arabic numerals 32 surrounded by the voided words Cornwall Regt with a rich blue enamel beneath, all within a spray of laurel leaves. The battle honours are picked out in silver against green gold rays on a lemon gold back plate which creates a very beautiful shoulder belt plate.
The reverse retains its original hooks and buttons and shows good gilt overspill and with age discolouration overall.
An extremely rare and truly beautiful shoulder belt plate to an exceptional Peninsula war regiment.
