1st or Reina Isabel Lancers Uniform Group

1st or Reina Isabel Lancers Uniform Group worn by Major James Rait circa 1835 comprising a tall lance cap bearing the Royal Arms of Queen Isabella 2, a red melton cloth jacket with buff facings and plastron front, the collar and cuffs elaborately embroidered in gold thread oak leaf and accorn design. Gold epaulettes also bearing the Royal Arms of Queen Isabella 2 with large twist wire tassels and gold cord aigulette and cap lines.
Also included is Major Riat`s stable dress jacket with correct pattern shoulder scales.
The British Auxiliary Legion were a volunteer force sent to Spain to assist the Liberals and Queen Isabella 2 to suppress a rebellion by the Carlist movement. Some 10,000 troops were sent to Spain under the command of Sir George De Lacy Evans.
In total some 2500 troops died in the campaign and there presence was not well received by the Carlists.
