4th Royal Irish Dragoon Guards 1871 Helmet Plate
A 4th Royal Irish Dragoon Guards 1871 Officer`s Helmet Plate comprising a silver eight pointed hobnail bright cut star with the ancient order of the St Patrick founded in 1783 by Geo 111.
In the center is an oval gilt strap with the words Quis Separabit and MDCCLXXXIII on a voided ground with a rich turguoise enamel behind and a red enamel cross over a silver engraved back ground. In the center is a green enamel shamrock with a crown in each petal.
Surely the most attractive of all the 1871 helmet plates and quite rare to find. The condition is exceptional with the gilt and enamels in very fresh condition, some age discolouring to the reverse.
