An 88th or Connaught Rangers Regiment Officers Tunic Button circa 1860

A rare closed back gilt button from an officer’s tunic circa 1860. Made by Jennens & Co, London. Complete with shank to the reverse and displaying the design of 88 within a crowned circle inscribed “Connaught Rangers”, a wreath of shamrock, at the foot of which the motto Quis Separabit and a harp. The button is finished with a scalloped edge. Good condition with slight loss of gilt to high points.
