Portrait of an Officer of the Honourable East India Company circa 1810

This small oil on canvass portrait in a contemporary gilt and gesso frame shows an unidentified officer wearing a flank company scarlet coatee with wing epaulettes and a white leather shoulder belt. The oval plate appears to have the arms of the HEIC in silver and wrapped round his waist is a crimson silk waist sash terminating with fringe ends.
His pose is indicative of other portraits painted at the time and shows the sitter nonchalently holding his flank company sword in his right hand.
A well executed English school portrait with no visible damage or repairs.
